NRA Instructor Guidelines
Cap City welcomes NRA-certified instructors to hold classes at the club. To keep things safe, fair to other members, and properly insured, please follow these guidelines.
New instructors
Instructors who are new to teaching at Cap City must be approved by the Executive Officer, Ryan Lancaster (ryanl.capcity@gmail.com), before scheduling their first class.
Insurance
Every instructor must have a current certificate of insurance on file with the club before teaching. Coverage must be at least $1,000,000 per occurrence and $2,000,000 aggregate, and the certificate must name the club as additional insured:
Capitol City Rifle and Pistol Club
100 Dividend Road
Rocky Hill, CT 06067
When your policy renews, please send the new certificate to the Secretary. Classes can't be held while insurance on file is expired.
Scheduling a class
Send class notices to the Executive Officer, Ryan Lancaster (ryanl.capcity@gmail.com), with the Secretary copied (bryan.capcity@gmail.com). Give plenty of advance notice. A day ahead is not enough. We schedule only to keep two classes from overlapping and to avoid conflicts with club events. Please plan around the club calendar, since the club can't work around individual instructors' schedules.
The range stays open
The range isn't closed for classes. Other members can shoot during your class, and they may walk through the clubhouse to reach the range.
Using the clubhouse
Instructors may use the clubhouse for classroom instruction. Please leave it the way you found it.
Badges
Instructors wear a blue instructor badge. Students wear guest badges.
Fees and targets
The range fee is $10 per student. Leave it under the office door. Instructors pay for any club targets used.
